There were reports of trees and wires downed on Wauregan Road, a tree downed near the intersection of Westcott and Cranberry Bog Road, several trees downed on Ledge Road, and trees and wires down on Shippee Schoolhouse Road. It was rated as an EF-1 (wind of 100 mph), had a maximum width of 70 yards with a path length of 16.1 miles. It was on the ground at 4pm and lasted for 10 minutes. The National Weather Service out of Boston, after surveying damage and reviewing radar imagery, has confirmed a tornado moved through Killingly in Windham County. Tuesday kicks off a pattern of seasonal and sunny weather for a good amount of the rest of next week! Stay tuned with any changes on our WFSB Weather App. The latest guidance shows some more showers/t’storms for the afternoon/evening. Pack the umbrella for most of the day - the morning commute looks rainy and wet with a couple isolated thunderstorms possible. With low pressure nearby, rain makes a brief comeback for tomorrow. We could see some showers as early as 8 or 9 pm and they’ll continue through the overnight into tomorrow. Clouds build through late afternoon into early evening ahead of the next system we are watching. That sunshine today will boost high temps back up into the mid to upper 70s! As weak high pressure settles in - it will be a fantastic day to take a trip to the Big E, go apple picking or enjoy the great outdoors. Also, wind has died down dramatically - mostly calm through our state coming in from the NW. As a matter of fact, any clouds associated with the system have moved out and we’ll wake up this morning to bright sunshine! It’s a chilly start as a lot of temperatures are nearing 50 degrees and the air is comfortable and dry. Lee is no longer a threat to for us here in CT.
